Why Cygnet Brunel?

With three different neuropsychiatry pathways at Cygnet Brunel, there’s plenty of opportunity to gain a breadth of knowledge and experience across a wide range of neuropsychiatric disorders.

Whether it’s helping rehabilitate patients after brain injury or supporting those with neurodegenerative conditions – it’s massively rewarding work. There’s plenty of variety and opportunities to maximise people’s quality of life in creative and fun ways. Seeing patients recover from brain injury and knowing you’ve been part of that journey; or facilitating activities that bring people joy – there’s no better feeling.

At Brunel, our values are important to us – they create an atmosphere of care, trust and support that makes working here special. With us, you’ll be part of a culture that celebrates our values and colleagues with a regular Values Ambassador Award.

The wards you’ll be working on…

You’ll be encouraged and supported to innovate

With us, you can innovate and be supported. We encourage everyone to bring their ideas to the table – and we’ll help getting them up and running. We especially encourage initiatives that provide opportunities for patients and staff welfare.

One great example of this was a new ‘sensory room’ suggested by some of our Support Workers. They felt it would benefit people on the neurodegenerative ward. Together with our Occupational Therapist, they took the steps to create this valuable new space for patients.

You’ll be empowered to shape what we do

At Cygnet Brunel, we like to involve everyone in considering how we do things. Our vision for the hospital is decided by the team. And that’s why, when we created our Culture Charter, we invited everyone who works here to give their input.

We also have staff champions who gather feedback from colleagues to help us improve, shape and change what we do. Being a champion gives people the chance to develop new skills and collaborate in new ways – as part of working groups that empower staff to bring about the changes they want to see.

You’ll love the variety and friendly atmosphere

No two days at Cygnet Brunel are the same. Bingo nights; quizzes; building bug hotels; gardening – these are just some of the fun activities the team facilitates for our patients with neurodegenerative conditions. And physical healthcare is also part of the role.

If supporting rehabilitation is your passion, there’s plenty of variety too – as the team helps people back into community living with a number of activities, groups and trips out of the hospital. On site, we have already collaborated on two exciting projects: making pallet furniture and creating an inspirational ‘graffiti wall.’

We also regularly hold barbecues and social events to bring staff and patients together in different ways.
