Championing the Next Generation: A Stellar Start to 2026 for Cygnet’s Apprenticeship Programmes

Over the past few months, we have seen incredible growth, celebrated prestigious award recognitions, and welcomed enthusiastic new cohorts to our team.

As an organisation committed to nurturing talent and providing robust career pathways in health and social care, we are thrilled to look back at our recent milestones and celebrate the people who make our apprenticeship programmes so successful.

Award-Winning Excellence in Apprenticeships

 Our dedication to our apprentices hasn’t gone unnoticed. In just the first few months of 2026, Cygnet has been recognised by several esteemed educational and healthcare institutions:

• Apprenticeship Employer of the Year: In February, we were incredibly proud to be named Apprenticeship Employer of the Year by University College Birmingham, a testament to the supportive and enriching environment we strive to provide.

• Nursing Apprenticeship Provider of the Year (Shortlist): Also in February, our commitment to developing future nursing talent earned us a spot on the shortlist for Nursing Apprenticeship Provider of the Year at the Student Nursing Times Awards.

• Large Employer of the Year (Shortlist): Most recently, in April, we were thrilled to be shortlisted for Large Employer of the Year at the Juniper Training Apprenticeship Awards 2026.

Welcoming Our First Support Worker Apprentices

 A major highlight of this year has been the launch of a new initiative: welcoming Support Worker Apprentices who join Cygnet as apprentices from their very first day.

• In January, we celebrated a major milestone by welcoming our first-ever cohort of Social Care Support Worker Apprentices.

• Building on that momentum, March saw a fantastic new group of Healthcare Support Worker Apprentices join the dedicated team at Cygnet Hospital Bierley.

It is incredibly rewarding to watch these individuals begin their careers with us, bringing fresh perspectives and exceptional compassion to our services.

Hear From Our Apprentices

 We believe the best way to understand the impact of our programmes is to hear directly from the apprentices themselves. During National Apprenticeship Week in February, we shone a spotlight on our Occupational Therapy (OT) apprentices.
