A Cygnet support worker’s responsibilities are based on a person-centered approach, meaning their tasks are guided by the specific goals and needs of the individual they’re supporting.
The day-to-day duties can include:
The job of a Cygnet support worker is often life-changing, not just for the person being supported, but for the worker themselves. Just ask Louise, a support worker in the UK who found her career at Cygnet after raising a family.
“I made my mind up that I wanted to become a support worker to help others achieve their goals and ambitions,” she shared. Louise, like many Cygnet staff, found a deep sense of purpose in her role, explaining that “seeing people’s faces light up when they talk to me about their day is the most meaningful part of the job for me.”
Her story is a powerful reminder that the best support workers are those who have a deep sense of empathy and a desire to make a difference. The reward, she says, is knowing you are enabling someone to live independently and with dignity.
