Our commitment to net zero

Our aim is to replace our entire fleet with electric vehicles by 2032 and this programme is now well underway with 15 new electric vehicles joining our fleet in Spring 2023. We are also introducing measures that will support our colleagues to make the switch to electric vehicles with plans to have 95% of our colleagues commuting in electric vehicles by 2040.

We have completed the installation of solar panels at all 22 of our identified phase 1 sites and 8 of the 33 sites that are identified for phase 2. In just one site, the CO2 emissions that are avoided equate to 21,631kg per year or 21.63 tonnes. This is equivalent to 865 trees being planted.

We have been upgrading many of our sites to use LED lighting which has seen a 78% reduction in the amount of electricity used to light some of the sites where this has been implemented. More sites will be included in future phases

We have made huge improvements recycling our waste from 16% being recycled in 2019 to 38% in 2023. On top of this our facilities recycle cooking oil and in 2022 we recycled more than 5.84 tonnes of cooking oil into biodiesel.

In addition to our own solar installation programme, 100% of the electricity procured by Cygnet comes from renewable energy sources

We have made commitments to review the environmental credentials of companies we work with. This has included removing all black plastic from our food supplies.
