About Us

Cygnet Health Care was established in 1988 as an independent provider of health and social care services in England, Scotland and Wales. This role is at Cygnet Taunton, Somerset, TA3 7BQ. The hospital is set in rural countryside setting with great grounds and landscapes, it is peaceful and very scenic. Not far from the historic market town of Taunton which has shops, entertainment and historic buildings, with good transport network. We are looking for the right person to join us for this new role, Band 7 equivalent pay of £53,244

Your Role

Service Line:

Cygnet employs a small but growing number of physiotherapists, working nationally within the specialist service lines of Neuro Psychiatric Rehabilitation, and Specialist Learning Disability Day Services, Complex Neuro Care and Rehabilitation in social care settings. This new post is within a new service, Neurocognitive healthcare based at Cygnet Hospital Taunton. This service will be provided within a 15 bedded ward area of the hospital site. It is a full time post which can be worked with some flexibility, as long as the needs of the patients can be met. The post will involve some service development to establish the new service and suitable interdisciplinary working styles which we are very proud of. You will be involved in long term patient care for adults with complex cognitive and neurological conditions, alongside a psychiatric sequelae. Care and treatment will be provided within a safe, structured and therapeutic environment by an interdisciplinary team.

Summary of the site

  • The neurocognitive service will provide adults with acquired cognitive disorders, neurological difficulties and often associated mental health support needs to access the best possible care and rehabilitation, to optimise their  functional independence and quality of life. This role would require the candidate to be flexible and creative when designing and delivering the treatment interventions. It also requires someone who is a capable motivator to engage with the patient group to achieve the optimal results.
  • The staff team is made up of a manager , a head of care  , registered nurses  support workers , SLT , OT , Consultant Psychiatrist , Consultant Psychologist , Dietetics and  Physio  .
  • At full capacity the service offers 15 beds for adult patients.Patients are discussed by the full MDT prior to admission, to ensure their complex care needs can be met and effectively supported.
  • The Physiotherapist on site will actively support the service development and their own development into this specialist role, providing clinical supervision and support to other team members, and in time to Physiotherapy students  mentoring in line with CSP physiotherapy framework guidance. There is an active Physiotherapy specific service line education and development forum with and many opportunities for additional training and job enrichment.
  • There is a good range of peer support, training and CPD offered from the existing physiotherapy practitioners, which is made up of all the Cygnet Physiotherapy colleagues from all regions, giving access to a very good range of professional expertise and experience.

Therapy Directorate

Physiotherapy is a growing profession within Cygnet, we work closely with the larger group of OT under the leadership of our Occupational Therapy Directors. Working together as a large team of AHPs in partnership with other disciplines including SLT and psychology. Interdisciplinary working and support is a crucial part of team working within these niche specialist services.

Every service line has lead therapists helping to shape and develop the clinical practice and also to assure and improve the quality of service provision and outcomes for our service users.

We ensure our clinicians are well supported and receive time for CPD, clinical supervision, and participation in service development activities.

Physiotherapy Development & Induction:

We understand that specialist mental health services are not always the most familiar service areas for physiotherapy colleagues to have gained experience. We are willing to offer the right package of support and development to anyone who is keen to contribute their specialist physiotherapy  knowledge and skills to our patients, and staff teams . We would facilitate this using the CSP Development Framework to ensure career development is underpinned by knowledge and skills gained through work experiences, supervision, mentoring, CPD and lifelong learning .

Requirements
