At Kirkside we have a challenging service user who was in need of a bathroom repair which involved the service user been out on day trips all week. Caroline volunteered to support the individual for 3 of the days as she was the only medication trained staff that was on shift. This helped the day trips be successful and settled.
Gary decided to make home made Dutch apples for supper. He realized after buying the apples the unit had no apple decorator, Gary tirelessly worked to decorate 16 apples single handedly in high temperatures. This took him over an hour and was sweating continuously. He did this just so service users could have “the Dutch experience”. He is a true hero.
Paul goes above and beyond. I have had an issue with our intercom which took time to sort out. He kept on it until the issue was solved.
He is also a very hard worker, working between two sites Gledholt and Gledholt Mews.
Thank you for your Support Paul.
Sally was nominated by multiple of our service users to support them in their ward rounds. She attended all of them with no questions asked, contributed to discussions effectively and supported the service users throughout. Sally is a great asset to the team and appears a great support to our service users. Well done, Sally!
I am nominating Virginia for the empathy award because she is a fantastic listener and spends quality time with all residents and staff to help support them in the best way. She is a brilliant nurse who advocates exceptionally on behalf of residents to make sure that they achieve what they want and need while in hospital. Keep it up 🙂
Barbara is continually working hard, no job is too big for Barbara. She is continually working to support our patients on their recovery by supporting them to maintain a clean room and living area. She constantly goes above and beyond and often receives a lot of compliments from staff and patients. She always supports with hospital fundraising.
We recently held a great Yorkshire show at Outwood. Jodie supported and led the activity day, organising fun tasks to do and organising an ice cream van. Other services and visitors came along to have some fun and was complimented on how much the residents engaged and enjoyed the day. Thanks Jodie!
Kelsey put her delicate hand to work and re-decorated a resident’s bedroom. The room used to look very plain and Kelsey has gone out of her way to decorate it and it looks really good now.
The room has made such a difference and had a positive impact on the resident’s life. It looks person centred now.

Jo recently sourced electronic books to aid a patient with reading. Reading is a skill that the patient had expressed she was more confident with and had been avoiding groups as a result. Jo sourced and bought a pack of story books that read back to you the story so the patient can be involved, but most importantly enjoy stories.
Troy has recently sustained a serious injury to his foot that resulted in an operation and follow up treatment which has been painful and ongoing. Troy has been a force of positivity. He wanted to return to work straight away and ensure that his sites were supported putting their needs above his, all with a smile on his face. Thank you Troy!
We are about to open Maple House in the East Midlands as a brand new service. Laura has worked with passion and commitment to ensure that the site has had all of the staff that it needs when it opens. She has worked with the recruitment team and operations to ensure the recruitment processes were all aligned and inductions in place. Thanks Laura!
