Cygnet are currently looking for an experienced Learning Disabilities Support Worker to join our team working at Conifers. 

Conifers is a specialist 7-bed residential home providing outcome-focused care for adults with a primary diagnosis of profound to moderate learning disability and autism with associated complex needs.

We aim to provide a safe, comfortable and effective environment, promoting independence and community integration. Person-centred planning is at the heart of everything we do, based on each person’s specific needs. We understand that consistency and continuity of care is important for the people we support.

The people we support:

  • People from the age of 18 years
  • Individuals with a primary diagnosis of learning disabilities
  • May have autism
  • May have communication challenges
  • May have associated complex needs
  • May have physical disabilities and require specialist mobility equipment

You’re day-to-day…

  • Offer enhanced care with a flexible learning approach for all the people in our care
  • Provide guidance & encouragement through physical & emotional support
  • Learn about individuals’ specific needs & provide help in the most appropriate way
  • Assist with medical & welfare needs 
  • Report on medical & welfare needs as required 
  • Safeguard
  • Maintain a safe, clean environment for all

What you will need:

  • Previous experience working with adults with learning disabilities, autism, challenging behaviour and complex healthcare needs, including Epilepsy.
  • Preferably hold a full clean UK driving license (although this is not essential for this role)
  • A can-do attitude and the ability to work well within a friendly staff team.
  • Knowledge of non-verbal communication techniques such as Makaton would be advantageous; however, training on this will be provided.

Please note that successful candidates will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
