As Resident Medical Officer, you’ll play a crucial role providing on call cover for Cygnet Hospital Harrogate. This is a long-established mental health hospital that provides an emergency admissions service across two acute wards.
The hospital has 36 beds supporting men and women, with an overall "Good" CQC rating
This is a maternity cover contract, ideally starting in July 2025, for 6 months with the possibility of extension
The RMO is the Doctor covering on calls between 5pm and 9am on weekdays and 9am -9am weekend shifts. Generally the RMO will work on a rota of 4 days on / 3 days off every week.

We are looking for someone who is…
- Fully GMC registered & MBBS (or equivalent) qualified
- An excellent clinical decision maker, with sound judgement, the ability to manage risk & know when to ask for help
- Preferably experienced in Psychiatry
- Able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- A first-rate communicator who can interview, assess & treat patients & write clear, comprehensive medical notes
- Committed to continued professional development
