We are looking for a confident Engagement Team Leader with a passion for delivering outstanding care.

You’ll be working 42 hours a week, making a positive difference to the lives of the people in our care at Cygnet Appletree.

Cygnet Appletree, near Durham, is a mental health hospital for women that includes Pippin Ward, a specialist PICU service and Bramley Ward, an acute service for women.

Our person-centred service has been designed with wellness in mind, providing a safe and comfortable environment that promotes efficient rehabilitation and recovery. We are dedicated to understand, stabilise and break the traumatic cycles of relapse that can impact service users’ lives.

Your day-to-day…

  • To assist the Hospital Manager in the effective co-ordination of all services to the staff and service users.

  • To support in increasing carer engagement across the hospital and wards.

  • To help plan and action a range wide range of activities across the hospital in any given year.

  • To provide support and care to all staff whether new or old in their journey as a staff member at Cygnet Hospital Appletree and sign post to both internal and external support systems.

  • MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Inductions and Training:                                                                                     

  • To make sure all staff are correctly inducted and understand the company’s aims

  • To offer staff support during their induction period by buddying up with a long term staff.

  • To participate in developing & leading training sessions for staff teams.
    Ensuring all staff have the correct training before supporting the individuals in our care.

  • CARERS LEAD

  • To act as a Carers lead on Cygnet Hospital Appletree concerning issues relating to carers and families of service users and to encourage ward staff to always think of the wider family and carers.

  • To ensure all required contacts are completed with relatives and carers in line with Cygnet policies and procedures and that all the documents are sent.

    To encourage all staff to provide direct support to families and carers in each ward team by meeting with them, signposting them and helping them to understand services and to have a valuable input in the care of their loved one.

  • Encourage and assist service users to develop and maintain links with relatives, carers and significant others in their lives.

  • To co facilitate a bi monthly group for carers across all Cygnet Hospital Appletree.

  • To update information on the wards for families and carers posters, leaflets etc. on display for carers and for other staff members

  • To be involved in specific carer led and co-produced service improvement projects with particular emphasis on further developing and supporting engagement and involvement.

    To engage with external stakeholders in the voluntary and statutory sector to work alongside them to increase collaboration and partnership work .e.g. Local Carers Support Group.

  • To build and link with a network of ward carer champions

  • To support the implementation of best practice and/or accreditation in relation to carer initiatives at site. To ensure relevant evidence is collated and submitted.

  • ENGAGEMENT 

  • To play an active part in promoting good public relations in the locality so as to increase public awareness of, and support for, the aims and objectives of the Hospital as a whole.

  • To attend staff meetings and service users review meetings and make a valuable contribution. Preparing and presenting any necessary reports.

  • To be inclusive and use National awareness days to guide celebrations a-site and also be advocates for specific events the hospital staff want to celebrate.
    To manage and implement the wellbeing initiatives for staff. 

  • Oversee the management of personalised wellbeing toolkits for staff
    Ensure staff’s voices are heard and feedback goes both up and down.

  • To offer appropriate guidance and support. 

  • To serve as a role model and a source of trusted information.

  • Manage the internal communications of the hospital (Digital Screens & Newsletter)

  • Manage awareness of rewards/benefits at site level

  • ROTA SUPPORT 

  • Support around the effective management of rotas to ensure that staffing levels are adequate to meet the needs of the ward and that staff are appropriately qualified to carry out the duties required of them.

  • Ensuring that the rotas remain within budget whilst covering absences such as training, annual leave, sickness, etc. as required.

  • To support around the site being within the required off-shift entitlement.

  • To support around meeting the sites target around minimal agency usage.
